PROF ROSE AMAL

2019 NSW Scientist of the Year, Scientia Professor Rose Amal is an ARC Laureate Fellow with over 25 years’ experiences in the field of fine particle technology, photo-catalysis, and functional materials. She is also the Director of Particle and Catalysis Research Laboratories whose research expertise include designing heterostructured catalysts to effectively harvest solar light and translating these findings into green manufacturing processes involving hybrid photo-electro-thermal catalysis such as for transforming CO2 and water into valuable chemicals and energy feedstock.

 

Over the past 10 years, Professor Amal has secured over $25Million in competitive research funding and has held prominent leadership positions. She has received numerous prestigious awards including being honoured to the Companion of the Order of Australia (2018), Australia’s Top 100 Most Influential Engineers (2012-2015); the ExxonMobil Award (2012), the Women in Engineering Leadership Award (2012), the NSW Science and Engineering Award - Emerging Research (2011), etc. She has published 5 book chapters, > 380 refereed journal papers and >135 refereed conference proceedings (h-index of 67 and >15560 citations – Oct 2018, SCOPUS).
